In addition to these stunning islands to see, you can locally visit Naushon Island, part of the Elizabeth Islands, seven miles (11 km) long, just off (SW of) Cape Cod, and four statute miles (6 km) NW of Martha's Vineyard. From 1750 to 1930, Naushon supported a flock of sheep numbering from 1000-2000 head, as well as cattle, horses, goats and other assorted animals. Today you will see cattle basking in the ocean, many travel to just take in the beautiful view and see what animals they will see.
