What is it about looking behind that allows us to appreciate what we have?
Looking back at my travel photos from 2018, I find I have a lot to be grateful for. I backpacked into the Olympic Mountains where waterfalls poured from the cliffs. A road trip took me to the incredible desert caves and fossil beds of central Oregon. Nature offered sightings of breaching orcas, feasting eagles and one hungry black bear. I stayed in campsites, cabins and historic lodges, beside the ocean, in the mountains and among the high desert sage. By the end, I had visited all 7 Wonders of Oregon and our very best state parks.
